Welcome to the SaXy Ladies blog! The SaXy Ladies is comprised of Sally and Xandra. We met at Scrap Orchard when we both posted about wanting partners for the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race season 4. We decided to pair up, and found out as we were getting to know each other that we also have tons in common and have become pretty good friends already. Sally is a 33 year old mom to a 10 year old daughter and Xandra is 24 and mom to 2 year old twins (Can you even imagine?!?). We both have pretty good significant others who if not understand, at least tolerate our obsession with the digi-scrapping world. Xandra is a VERY talented digi designer and Sally just loves to play with the designs others come up with. We decided to start this blog to keep up with and document our fabulous journey through the world of ADSR4. Hopefully, it will be somewhat entertaining to those who might stumble upon it. We know we entertain ourselves, we just hope we can entertain others as well, LOL.

So, welcome again. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Feel free to comment, or not, it's up to you. Give us a cheer when we complete an assignment on our way to completing the race! Every so often we might post a question (Xandra's really good at coming up with good ones, lol)on here just to see what kind of responses we might get, just for fun.

baaad bad bad

Ok so the ADSR is over and we are soooo slacking posting our LOs

Challenge 8
OScraps
1. Scraplift a layout from the gallery of your Scrapping Idol.
2. Include a star somewhere on your layout.
3. Include the word DREAM somewhere on your layout.

Challenge 9
KB and Friends
* Photos of at least two generations of family membersy.
* Lace.
* Something metal, preferably, old metal.
* At least one flower.
* At least one vintage or retro-style element. It can be ephemera, an old book, an old clock, and so on.

Challenge 10
Pixel Gypsy
ROADBLOCK
Interview your race partner (ask at least 5 questions) and create a layout (with a photo) based on that interview. The layout must contain supplies from two designers—no more, no less, and the color scheme must consist mainly of two colors. Minor accent colors are allowed, but 2 colors must stand out most prominently.

Challenge 11
1. Your layout can have only ONE photo. The photo must either be of the person to whom you are posing the question OR must represent the question you are asking.

2. You MUST include your question in your layout and your question can be the ONLY words/journaling on your layout. This means you have to tell us what your question is, but that’s it. You can’t explain the question or answer the question. I'm a big fan of “less is more”, so express yourself through just your question and your photo

Challenge 12
WeAreStoryTellers
This challenge is an INTERSECTION -- Players must collaborate on one project.

Pretend you and your team mate are sitting on a porch, sipping a cup of tea and chatting. You stumble upon the topic of storytelling, your eyes light up and you begin talking about why storytelling is so important to each of you.

Please create a layout that expresses what storytelling means to each of you. Why did you each choose this form (scrapbooking in general and/or digital specifically) to tell your stories? Why is storytelling important? How do you feel about storytelling (is it a creative outlet, way to express your words, document your family's experiences, etc.) Why are you a storyteller? (You don't have to answer all these questions, consider them food for thought and to give you an idea as to what we are looking for.)

Your story must include:

{we are} storytellers word-art provided (see below) -- you may alter the word-art if you would like.
At least 1/2 of the layout must be journaling, more the better
At least 5 elements/embellishements
No more than 2 pieces of paper
Only 2 small photos, 1 of each of you, placed in the bottom right hand area of your page. IF you have a photo of the two of you together, you may use it and only required to have 1 photo. The bottom line, we want to see your beautiful faces!

I don't have the completed LO--Sally will post our 12

Challenge 13
For this challenge, you will work together as a team to create a single two-page layout, with each of you creating one half. Because you are each completing your own half of a two-page layout, there is no need to swap files and otherwise transfer large documents (yay!)

Left Page:
Use exactly 3 papers
1 must be in a shape
Use exactly 3 photos
1 must be B & W
Use exactly 3 flowers
Use exactly 2 strings/ ribbons
Use exactly 2 staples

You may use other embellishments as needed, as long as they are not flowers, strings, ribbons, staples, papers or photos.

Journal at least 5 sentences (must include the word love).

Right Page:
Use at least 4 papers
1 must be a print, all others must be plain
Use exactly 2 photos
Crop 1 photo into a shape
Use exactly 3 staples
Use only 1 flower
Use only 1 string/ ribbon

Oops!

Lol, ok...well...Xandra and I have both kind of let this blog go over the last couple of weeks, both been super busy with all kinds of stuff. ADSR is moving right along, and so far Team Saxy Ladies has been checked in through Challenge 7. Ok.....so to catch our loyal readers (all 3 of you, lol) up....here's a review of challenges 4-7, lol.

Challenge 4 was to create a LO with the theme "The Art and Soul of It." The LO had to include at least 3 "artsy" elements, and journaling. This one was really tough for me, as it was completely out of my comfort zone, and while I'm not LOVING the result, I'm proud of myself for getting there, and I'll continue to attempt this style as I do like the way some of the elements look. So here are Xandra's and my LO's for Challenge 4.

Xandra's

Mine

Challenge 5 was to scrap a LO with NO photos and 3 frames. This was tough too, because we're all used to scrapping a photo, LOL. Here are our LO's.

Challenge 6 was a "roadblock" meaning that only one partner completed the challenge. The challenge was to take a LO of your partners, flip it horizontal or vertical, then rotate it 45 degrees and scraplift it, LOL. This was a little tricky, but I lifted one of Xandra's LO's and here was the result:

And finally Challenge 7. We were given a kit and told that we had to use EVERY piece of that kit in a LO. We weren't so crazy about the kit, LOL, but pleased with our results. Here are our LO's for Challenge 7.

And now...we're all caught up! LOL....for full credits on these LO's, please visit our galleries at NDISB using the links on the right. And....now we wait for Challenge 8!!

Well since Ms. Xandra posted her LO's, I guess I will too, LOL...As she told you the challenge was to scraplift our first LO from one of our galleries, so I chose this one which is uploaded at Scrap Orchard:

Credits for this LO are HERE

And here's the new one. I love it so much more. The green papers from Xandra's kit just really make the pictures pop.

Credits for this one are HERE

Don't forget to scroll down to Xandra's question for a chance to win her kit "Saxy Ladies" which she created for our ADSR team!

Challenge 3 LO

Ok so our Challenge for Challenge #3 was sponsered by Gotta Pixel and we had to take the first LO uploaded to any gallery and redo it, however we had to keep the exact same text/journaling if it was wording of any kind, we had to have it on our new LO, nothign taken away and nothing added. Also our picture had to be the same and it had to be the same size.

Here is the original
uploaded to Gotta Pixel

Here is the new version

What do you think?

Ok so Im going to cheat a little...

So I am cheating a bit and showing you the LO here... this is our LO for Challenge 2 the confusing one Sally was talking about below.......there were so many questions and posts about this challenge....needless to say I'm not going to be surprised if not everyone gets through this challenge.

Ok now onto the other picture I have here for you.....This is part PART of the SaXy Ladies Kit...not even half of the embellies is shown, and none of the alpha is shown (which is a full upper, lowercase, numerals, and punctuation alpha.

answer my question and you could win it!

scroll down a post or two and answer what would you do put in that situation?

ADSR Challenge 2

This assignment was CRAZY confusing, lol. There were a ton of questions about what counts as an element or doesn't, what counts as a paper or doesn't...geesh, it was nuts. To cut the story short, we had to use 3 photos, 4 papers, 8 elements, a title, journaling, and 2 different fonts. LOTS of confusion over how to count the elements, could we have 9 or ONLY eight, just wow, very confusing. The basic assignment was to scrap a layout TOGETHER, using the theme "Cabin Fever." So....Xandra comes up with the BRILLIANT idea of scrapping a LO about OUR kids. Not just a LO we did together about her kids, or mine, but about ALL of them. SO COOL!! One thing the LO had to have on it was journaling, so she journaled about the pics of her kids, I journaled about the pic of Casey, and we put it all together and came up with this awesome (if we do say so ourselves) layout! Check it out by clicking either of our gallery links on the right!

ADSR Assignment 1

Whew...ADSR officially kicked off this morning, and both Xandra and I got our LO's completed and uploaded to the gallery in record time, LOL. The challenge was to use a photo and rip it into three pieces, and to make sure the LO included journaling. Xandra did a BEAUTIFUL layout of her kids opening presents Christmas morning, and I did a rather emotional layout about my fiance and I being apart right now. To see our layouts, click on our gallery links to the right! Challenge Two comes out Tuesday, so stay tuned!!
